“A nice, natural style and a real feel for language and rhythm” Tony Bradman, poet, anthologist, reviewer & author
I've always enjoyed messing around with words. That's probably why I like writing poetry. Funny poetry mostly, but not always.
Dinosaurs & Dinner-Ladies, my first poetry collection, is published by Otter-Barry Books - as is my new collection, Zooming the Zoo. Both are illustrated by Tom Morgan-Jones. |
"Rather wonderful... each and every one of [the poems] needs to be read" - The Poetry Zone on Dinosaurs & Dinner-Ladies
"A collection of sheer brilliance with all the wit and charm we’ve come to expect from this popular fiction writer" - Lovereading4kids
Tony Bradman put one of my poems in a book called Look Out! The Teachers Are Coming. It's called About Mrs Barry, by Sarah. You'll find it in Dinosaurs & Dinner-Ladies, too.
I often do a bit of poetry at some point during a school visit. People seem to like it. |
In 2015 I was invited to help judge the Divine Chocolate Poetry Competition. It was great fun - and they gave me chocolate!!!!
I really like Divine - not only is it utterly yumsworthy; the people who farm the cocoa also own part of the company, so they get paid fairly. Below are videos of me reading the winning entries. |
