Zeus on the Loose and Zeus to the Rescue

                           by John Dougherty

Zeus on the Loose was shortlisted for the Branford Boase Award 2005.

The Branford Boase Award is awarded annually for an outstanding first novel to a first-time writer of a book for young people. John was absolutely thrilled that Zeus on the Loose was included on the 2005 shortlist.

"There's nothing loose about Zeus. It's surprising how every chapter is tightly packed with incident and ingenious turns of plot. I really enjoyed the pace of the book, the humour, and, importantly, the idea."

Nicholas Allan, award-winning author & illustrator of numerous books including Where Willy Went, Cinderella's Bum, The Queen's Knickers and Jesus' Christmas Party

What would you do if a whacking great Greek god turned up at your school and insisted on coming home with you?

Not sure? Alex isn't either. But he needs to think of something, because Zeus is on the loose - and he wants to re-run the Trojan War in the school playground!

Illustrated by the marvellous Georgien Overwater, Zeus on the Loose costs only £3.99. You can buy it in any good bookshop (and most of the lousy ones as well) - or if you really can't be bothered to get off your bottom & leave the house, you can buy it on amazon.co.uk  - just follow the link.

“Chapter books that are fun to read and slyly educational are rarely this well done… energetic and page-turning, with wacky illustrations helping the whole thing along.” John McLay in INK magazine
