Workshops
For workshop visits, John will spend 2 hours
with each of 2 classes, stimulating them to write and then helping and
encouraging their efforts.
Workshops on offer include:
Sparking the imagination - a story-writing workshop including an exercise designed to get the children past that stumbling-block of 'what can I write about?'
Emotions - more suited to younger children, this exercise encourages the children to be creative in writing about their feelings. The end result is a short poem, written individually or in groups depending on age and ability
Generating ideas - not so much a writing workshop as a thinking one, this aims to help children find inspiration for starting their stories and keeping them moving
These workshops were all originally designed to meet particular needs of individual schools. Please ask if you feel there's an aspect of writing that your pupils need help with, or a theme to your writing week that you'd like a workshop to complement - John may be able to help!
